El ritual funerari a la necròpolis del Coll del Moro, Gandesa (Terra Alta)

One of the five burials excavated in 1984 at the necropolis of Coll del Moro in Gandesa (Terra Alta-Tarragona) bore evidence of primary cremations. The tomb, a tumulus, yielded a cremation burial with a pottery urn and other vessels as funerary offerings. The chamber of the grave also contained bronze jewellery, basically bracelets. It is interesting to notice that the dead were cremated in the same place where the tomb was built. The complexity of the burial rite and the magnitude of some of the tumuli indicated a social structure consolidated with different grades of authority. We date these burials in the late Hallstatt but there is already evidence of commercial trade with punic people who arrived at the east coast in the second half of the seventh century BC and, from there, reached inland sites on the Ebro river and its afluents

This chapter describes the chemistry of hypercrosslinked materials, and presents a description of their synthesis, defining physico-chemical features and their most important applications. The synthesis section will examine the different monomers, precursor polymers, reagents and synthetic strategies used to prepare hypercrosslinked materials. Each synthesis section also details the chemical and morphological properties of the hypercrosslinked materials and the main field of application

Hypercrosslinked materials : preparation, characterisation and applications

This review article provides an overview of hypercrosslinking technology. In particular, it covers the preparation and characterisation of hypercrosslinked materials and their applications. The synthesis section examines the different monomers, precursor polymers and reagents used to prepare hypercrosslinked materials, but also the different synthetic approaches disclosed in the literature. The various chemical modification reactions relevant to this area are also reviewed. Several examples of applications for hypercrosslinked materials are described; these applications are grouped into thematic areas such as chromatography, gas storage and the trapping of organic contaminants

El Móvil hace su aparición en las aulas universitarias

En este artículo se expone la experiencia de innovación docente que se ha llevado a cabo en el primer cuatrimestre del curso 15/16 en la asignatura de Matemáticas II, del grado de Administración y Dirección de Empresas, en la Facultad de Economía y Empresa, de la Universidad de Barcelona. Esta experiencia ha consistido en la utilización, a través del teléfono móvil, de la aplicación Socrative para realizar las pruebas de evaluación continuada de los estudiantes. La evaluación continuada de esta asignatura consiste en la realización de un mínimo de dos pruebas a lo largo del cuatrimestre. Gracias a Socrative, se ha aumentado el número de pruebas hasta ocho, ya que esta aplicación permite de forma inmediata la recogida de respuestas, corrección, calificación y facilita esta información en una hoja de cálculo. El profesor no participa en el proceso de corrección aunque sí supone una mayor dedicación para preparar las diferentes pruebas. Este mecanismo ha aumentado considerablemente la motivación de los estudiantes y este hecho se ha reflejado en el éxito académico

Co-creation Processes Contributing to the Societal Impact of Science: Contributions from the Net4Impact Network

La participación ciudadana a lo largo del desarrollo de los proyectos de investigación ha demostrado aumentar el impacto social de la ciencia. Los procesos de cocreación promueven un impacto social más significativo al alinear la investigación con las necesidades sociales. En los últimos años se han identificado importantes avances en materia de participación ciudadana en la ciencia. Sin embargo, todavía existen importantes retos que limitan la interacción de la ciudadanía con las creaciones científicas. Este artículo recoge algunas de las aportaciones de la red Net4Impact frente a estos retos. Concretamente, analizamos los procesos de cocreación desarrollados por proyectos que han demostrado impacto social. Este estudio cualitativo se basa en el análisis de Webinars, reuniones con investigadores de diferentes áreas científicas y en el Análisis de Contenido Comunicativo. Como resultado, este trabajo ofrece seis ejemplos de impacto social en tres áreas científicas: ciencias sociales, humanidades e ingeniería. Además, se analizan las características e implicaciones de los distintos procesos de cocreación desarrollados por estos proyectos exitosos

Resilience to cope with climate change in urban areas - A multisectorial approach focusing on water - The RESCCUE project

Available on open access from MDPI via the DOI in this recordThe RESCCUE Project is an H2020 research project that aims to help cities around the world to become more resilient to physical, social, and economic challenges, using the water sector as the central point of the approach. RESCCUE will generate models and tools to bring this objective to practice, while delivering a framework enabling city resilience assessment, planning and management. This will be achieved by integrating software tools, methods, and new knowledge related to the detailed urban services performance into novel and promising loosely coupled models (integrated models), multi-risk assessment method, and a comprehensive resilience platform. These tools will allow urban resilience assessment from a multisectorial approach, for current and future climate change scenarios, including multiple hazards and cascading effects. The RESCCUE approach will be implemented in three EU cities (Barcelona, Bristol, and Lisbon) and, with the support of UN-Habitat, disseminate their results among other cities belonging to major international networks. Minería y metalurgia durante la I Edad del Hierro. Procesos de cambio en el sur de Cataluña

El objetivo de este artículo es ofrecer un breve resumen de la investigación acerca de la minería y la metalurgia en la 1ª Edad del Hierro del sur de Catalunya, basado en el reciente trabajo de campo y los estudios analíticos en tres áreas: el valle bajo del río Siurana, la Terra Alta-Algars-Matarranya y el curso bajo del Sénia.Se discuten los diferentes procesos de cambio social.The aim of this paper is to present a summary of research concerning mining and metallurgy in the Early Iron Age of southern Catalonia, on the basis of recent fieldwork and analytical studies in three areas: the lower valley of the River Siurana; La Terra Alta-Algars-Matarranya; and the lower course of the River Sénia.
